W01 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal Blog

 

One of my goal is so that I can be a successful business owner of more than one business. This week has been one of the greatest weeks as I started this class, I am so excited to take part the activities in this course. Guy Kawasaki  what's very articulate and one of his videos he shared this week where you spoke about how one needs to truly do what they love doing for them to be successful, he mentioned how when one does something for money or start a business for money, they will be miserably rich or miserably poor. It is very interesting that he mentioned miserably rich and it being an oxymoron. When one has passion for something get determined to accomplish and achieve great results. This is one of the interesting things I've heard this week because I started my own business my last year but was still in the planning phase. This journey I have taken to do this degree in applied business management has been enlightening to my business or the planning of my business. This is something which I love doing and each day I have been pushing very hard despite the setbacks.

President Gordon B Hinckley mentioned a lot about how much of a chosen generation we are and how the times in our day has changed to be difficult. Despite our day being difficult we can take comfort that we are a generation which has been trusted to reach great heights. We need to be ambitious as he mentioned in his talk. He mentions how we need to avoid taking a path of less resistance as it will affect who we are. I have want heard that a lot of entrepreneurs faces a lot of challenges before they reach success and these challenges helped them grow as individuals and as a business. Being a great leader or a great entrepreneur, it requires a skill which is embedded in us and this skill is learned through mistakes, failure and determination. Sometimes it might get very frustrating, but he teased the way to get to the top.

I am grateful for the opportunity I received from Brigham Young University Idaho to learn online and be able to obtain my degree online. This whole journey is not for me to just get a degree but, for me to be able to understand the principles more specially so that I may be able to incorporate them in my business and as I improve myself as an individual. My plan is so that I graduate this December and as I graduate, I will not end there I will continually learn and improve myself so that I may be able to be financially stable and independent to help those around me and more especially my family.

 One thing I learned this week was that time is so important when it comes to receiving your product. Trends change very fast and so as to Offer and Demand. We have to ensure providers that keep up with that pace.  Customers have to always have their needs satisfied, and if we can't do that, they will find another business that will. If it is a start-up company we need to ensure loyal clients and always have our income pass the Break-even point. We cannot afford extra cost as priority shipment" or package recovery fees. It is also important to note that sometimes it is better to have a longer delivery time and have a good product than a shorter delivery time and a low-quality product. As long as you are honest with your customers and communicate why the wait is worth it, you can still have a good customer base with products that take longer to come in.

W04 Site Builder & Hosting

 I enjoyed reading about the student's assessment of Weebly and agree with what he said.  However, I chose Yahoo Sites since I have previously used it (when it was named Site Builder) and am familiar with its abilities.  I should be able to quickly pull together a new website based upon my knowledge and prepare it for publication sooner.  Yahoo also has the ability to accept PayPal for services (which I'm using rather than products) and have the ability to receive information from clients via e-mails to my business address.  The others have the same ability, but as I said, since I'm family with an application already, I'm going to choose it again going forward. The first thing that took my attention in Weebly is how easy it is to build a website; it is just dragged and pasted. I also like how Weebly looks. I have never built a website before, and, after playing a little bit with Weebly, I thought it was easier than the others. The second criterion that I thought...
