W04 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal Blog
As an entrepreneur, I strive to learn and gain understanding
on ways I can run my business and improve on what is currently existing. A lot
of the insights from this week's lesson help me realize a couple of things on
how I can be one of the best entrepreneurs. I learned a lot on how it is not so
easy to continue a journey full of hurdles, our efforts, and hustles, are a
result of one’s determination to endure and be successful. This week we got to dig
deep into the life of an entrepreneur. Guy Kawasaki was able to take out an
insight and illuminate it in my life as an entrepreneur. I really enjoyed how
you explained that a lot of people start a business because they want money,
and more money is the determining factor of how well they do in that journey.
He emphasized that it is very difficult starting a business and when we look at
how many people start it doesn't equate to how many people succeed. A lot of
people who fail are discouraged with a lot of hurdles they face during that
journey. Money should not be the determining factor why you should be starting
your own business. I have noted this when I started my own business. I
registered my business last year and my business plan was initiated in the
beginning of this year, but I have encountered a lot of hurdles and mountains.
When you own your own business, you get to find out that it is not always
smooth sailing because they are a lot of moving mechanisms within a business
that one needs to maintain and uphold as a business owner. The marketing side
of my business is a bit tricky, and this is because I would need a lot of
papers which would need a lot of training and this all needs a lot of money.
There have been opportunities which I turned down because of my own company
policies which I have drafted and in this I had to maintain despite losing the
opportunities. I have also learned a lot about taking it slow and steady and
this helps me understand what I'm doing and helps me improve my skill to
optimize for maximum production as I follow the process to success. Guy was able
to explain and inspire emphasizing that if you want to make money you need to
do what you really love. If you, do it for money when you fail you do not have
the motivation to keep on going. The joy you receive from doing what you love
is great and does a reward tremendously.
This course has helped me see ways I can improve my business.
I am really enjoying the journey of learning as I implement different lessons
each week. I have mastered different techniques to help myself learn and
improve my skill to help those who are around me also more specially to help my
business. Each week that passes I am looking forward to learning and building
my relationship with those around me who are knowledgeable and pushing my dream
as a successful tycoon. It is very important that the skills I will implement
will help me build up understanding as I instill these teachings in my business
to improve my chances of reaching my goal of financial freedom and as I improve
my chances of being a great employer.
The three keys I plan to explain will be firstly how I will
be able to deal with the challenges before me as an individual firstly and then
as a business. This week I have learned that if I need to be a successful
entrepreneur there is need for me to synchronize my emotions and business. When
I speak of synchronization my goal is to achieve balance in separating business
and personal life. A lot of decisions that crash is a business might come from
one’s emotions and if one is able to separate their emotions from business,
they will be able to avoid probable failure. I also need to be positive, and
this is the second key. Positivity would drive me and motivate me to continue
despite the challenges I might face. Understanding that there are things that I
cannot change and things that I can influence to change will play a big role in
my success. And lastly as mentioned above yes to separate my personal life and
professional life, these three keys will help me reach my goals as an
independent, successful business owner.
